Reading the website
You can read every essay and note without allowing analytics. Simply.com hosts the website and Cloudflare provides DNS, security and delivery services. To serve and protect the site, these services use details such as your IP address, the time of a request and the browser you use.
Your privacy choice
The necessary kl_consent cookie remembers your choice for 180 days. A copy is stored in your browser’s local storage. You can change your choice at any time using “Privacy choices” in the footer.
Optional analytics
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 load only after you allow analytics. They help me see which texts people read and how they move through the site. They can record which pages you view, how far you scroll and which links you use. They can also record details about your browser, device and rough location. A click on the email link can show that you may want to get in touch. It does not send an email or record what you write.
Google Analytics may set first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. This site does not use advertising tags. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and advertising user data remain disabled.
If you reject analytics, these Google tags will not load. If you later withdraw consent, analytics on this site will stop. The site will also clear the Google Analytics cookies it can access. This does not erase data that Google has already processed. Google’s processing is described in its privacy policy.
Writing to me
If you email me, I receive what you choose to send and use it to reply. I use Google Workspace for email. I keep messages for as long as needed for our exchange and any duties linked to it.

Essays by email

With your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), I send the essays and occasional notes you request in your chosen language. You must confirm your email before receiving essays. Website analytics consent is separate and is not required to subscribe.
I record your email address, language, subscription status, signup, confirmation and unsubscribe dates, the signup location on this website, and the form version and consent wording. I do not collect your name, phone number or country. Short-lived pseudonymous counters prevent signup abuse; they do not track your reading.
MailerLite processes confirmed subscription records and delivers essays. Confirmation and welcome messages are delivered by Simply.com, the website’s hosting and email provider. Hosting and email providers process the information needed to operate these services. Provider agreements describe subprocessors, processing locations and safeguards for transfers outside the EEA. I do not sell addresses or share them for other people’s campaigns. These emails do not use open tracking or Google Analytics tags. MailerLite may record link clicks in essay mailings; I do not use them to build advertising profiles.
Unconfirmed requests are removed after 7 days; confirmation links expire after 48 hours. Active subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe. Afterwards, a minimal address and suppression status prevent accidental resubscription. Consent evidence is retained for up to 2 years after withdrawal to demonstrate compliance and handle potential claims (legitimate interests, GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Backups expire under the hosting retention cycle.
Every mailing includes an unsubscribe link that needs no login, and a language preference link. You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction and portability, withdraw consent, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Contact [email protected] to exercise your rights.
